Iran is ready to restart atomic discussions with Washington provided that it is handled with "respect" and "honor", Tehran's foreign minister has announced.

Abbas Araghchi said exclusively dialogue worked, and shared fresh requests had originated from intermediaries to reopen negotiations with the US government. He said Iran had zero secret atomic facilities, and Iran had not yet reached a point to authorize the UN nuclear inspectorate to inspect bombed nuclear sites for protective measures.

Navigating a Challenging Course

The foreign minister is walking a difficult path since Iran does not want be seen to be operating from a position of weakness, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had emerged stronger defensively and psychologically from the Israeli-US attack on its enrichment centers in June.

He was addressing at a strategic meeting in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "an absolute privilege to refine atomic fuel on home soil that it will perpetually retain" – the main reason of the deadlock in the prior discussions.

Earlier Discussions Suddenly Terminated

The previous five rounds of negotiations between the US and Iran were ended suddenly and acrimonious conclusion on 12 June when Israel, with American backing, attacked Iran's enrichment centers in a fortnight-long engagement that concluded with the US president claiming the facilities had been eliminated. Afterward, European countries employed their authority to reinstate international penalties, but Iran asserts they have not had a significant effect.

Ideal Resolution Suggested

Tehran representatives said they felt they had reached a "perfect agreement" to the enrichment issue in previous talks, when it was agreed an local partnership with American involvement could enrich uranium. In what is characterized by Iran's diplomats as the conflict of repair and recovery, Araghchi stated he was assured Iran's defence capabilities "are considerably enhanced than preceding 13 or 14 June of this year. Every aspect of our defense have been reestablished. We gained many lessons from this conflict; we have discovered our own weaknesses and the vulnerabilities of the enemy."

He continued: "We successfully passed this conflict. Our atomic expertise, which they intended to eliminate, remains in place. The installations and equipment, if eliminated, will be reconstructed; what is crucial is the will of the citizens of Tehran and then the social solidarity that they targeted, but failed to shatter.
